Your Questions About Pass To Honor

Mark asks…

What is the passing grades of Honors classes and do you get more GPA points when you take it?

Well, I’m kind of struggling in my Algebra 2 and Biology Honors in my 9th grade. I both have high C’s, (78% and 79%) but I’m willing to work hard to bring those grades up. I would like to know if C’s are the passing grades of Honors classes in California high schools and is it true that you get more GPA points than the normal classes when you take Honors?

admin answers:

Honors classes, AP classes, IB classes, „college-ready“ classes, and any other classes you can think of all have a passing grade of a „D“ (whatever that falls into, usually 60%+).

Also, it depends on the school/district that you go to. Most high schools choose to weigh the grades in AP and IB classes. Some weigh Honors classes as well. The thing is that your weighted GPA only goes with you to graduation, and thus only affects your class rank during graduation. Colleges/Universities do not look at the weighted grades simply because different schools weigh classes differently. They will, however, note the classes that you take.

Why Are Democrats Still Pushing This Bill?

They still have the same stuff in the bill, haven’t added or taken out or changed any of it. Now they want to pass in honor of Ted? Who cares? Its the same bill that will destroy our economy even further! Now they are trying to say it will bring down our deficit when projections say it will cost 2 Trillion dollars- DAH! Medicare don’t even pay doctors as much as the private sector- that’s common sense that more hospital jobs will disappear!

They are such horrible people. Can you imagine what they are trying to do. Provide health care to all Americans. Why do they want to do a something like that. What about the insurance, how will they ever make their blood money from denying health care coverage to the people. It is just horrible, all those people that will be living because of this. Don’t they understand population control.

I want to become an accountant, but I am not great at math?

I am a senior in hs with hopes of becoming an accountant. I’ve already taken accounting 1 & 2 and aced both class. But here’s the problem: I’m not good at math anymore. I was always in advanced math until my junior year. My junior year, I failed honor trig. Now, I can barely pass honors alg 2! It seems like I’ve forgotten a lot of math over the years. People tell me in college that I am going to have to take rigorous math courses, so I am not sure if this is the right major for me? I like doing accounting, but I don’t want to put myself in a tight situation. I took those two accounting courses this year though. Advice?
Does Accounting use calculus during it’s everyday work?

What the other person said is not true. Maybe it is different at other schools.

I used to be an accounting major. Here is the list of classes that you are required to take at my school. You just need the same basic math course that you have to take for any other major at my school.

(you have to scroll down to look at the full list)

50% percent of people fail the ACCT201A Financial Accounting ( 3 units) course
At my school, you have to take this course expecting to fail the first time. Soak up as much info as you can and just get familiar with the class. Then the second time you take it, you actaully try and do the 25 hours of homework a week that is required of the course.

I have no idea how it is like at other schools. But at my school, that is what the initial first accounting course is like.

My advice, practice makes perfect. Besides the usual, study your books, but why not try to get a job at a low tech retailer like A&P and see if you can be an assistant to their accountant since places like that still have someone manually look over earnings and losses. It’d be a great teacher with the odd situations you’ll face and possibly management experience. Pick up the Brain Age DS game or other games that focus on brain exercises.

How do I appropriately honor my sister at my wedding?

My sister who would have been my maid of honor passed away before I got engaged. I am trying to come up with ways to honor her at my wedding. I would like to do something unique because my sister and our relationship were both very unique, but I keep finding things that are really cliche or over done…suggestions? Ready, set, GO!

admin answers:

YOU HONOR YOUR SISTER……….by having a happy day.

That is what she would want.
You could do a private homage by wearing an article of jewelery of hers or something, but don’t detract from the joy of the moment with sad reminders.

Then, name your first daughter after her.
