A good Power supply (PSU) for my Pc?
Hi, I got a pc that needs a new power supply. It currently has a Bestec 250w. It’s unable to supply enough power to my GeForce gtx 260 graphics card which needs at least 500w so whenever i try playing a high graphic game it just shuts down. But I’m looking to get a 600w one. Can anyone recommend a good 600w PSU for $70 or under?

As of right now I’m leaning towards the rosewill PSU because it doesn’t seem that bad and it ain’t that expensive. But as I don’t know much about this, I’m not so sure. Out of these which one would be good. Also if you have any recommendation please let me know. It does not have to be from new egg, eBay or amazon work too. And another question, can using the Pc how it is now harm it in anyway if I just want to browse the web? (not using it for gaming) thanks!
Any opinions on the cooler master i600? I was doing a little reading on it and it seems good, any thoughts?

I’ve had good experiences with Cooler Master in the past and apparently they are getting a bit better.

I would go for the i600. I’ll take a look at the others and edit if I see something of better quality but that is a very nice PSu. Toss in the 80+ bronze and it’s efficient so less electrical waste and less utility bill impact.

Hi, can anyone tell me where i can buy a power supply for my PC? The information on the old orignal one reads:

Get a 650 watt power supply (or $100, a 750 watt that will allow you to add a powerful graphics card) from www.newegg.com , make sure it’s a reputable brand like enermax, antec, thermaltake, coolermaster, corsair, zalman, or OCZ.

what can I use to replace my hp desktop internal power supply, I will order from walmart.com?
a recent storm left one of my desktops with no power (blinking green light on ps) walmart.com has many power supplys listed ranging from 200 watt, 500 watt, and higher with numerous brand names, would the v500 watt fit the hp a6683 desktops or should I go for another power/brand ?
my burnt out internal power supply is – bestec atx-250-12z-rev.d7r, listed as 250 watt max.

Your power supply is a standard ATX PSU, so any other ATX PSU will fit. Also, order from Newegg.com, not Walmart. Newegg has better prices, better hardware, and far better shipping. I’ll leave a link below to a decent, quality brand PSU with good reviews.
Edit: Installing a PSU that has more wattage than you can use doesn’t effect anything. It’s not good or bad because it only withdraws the amount of power you’re using. The power supply you have says 250 watt max because that’s the maximum it can put out. It has nothing to do with what your system can use. HP put this cheap Bestec 250W PSU in your computer because it was CHEAP and saved the company money – not because it’s what your system allows. Other poster makes no sense.

HP Pavilion a6500f not booting up?
A week ago this PC was working fine, however, prior to this problem the PC failed to boot, as it was making long beeps, however this was resolved when I re-seated the RAM in to the DIMM slots, about 2 weeks later after the mini-incident, this PC suddenly went black while running, the fans were still running and the power was on, there was just no display and sound. I opened it up and re-seated the RAM again. Upon doing that the PC showed the HP splash but after that the screen went black, and it stayed like that, after I re-seated the RAM several times, cleared CMOS, re-seated CMOS battery, the screen stayed black upon turning it on, as a matter of fact, the monitor was saying „NO SIGNAL“. The fans were running and the power was on, just no splash screen, I proceeded to turn it off and unplug the large mobo power cable, then re-plugging it, this time however, the HP logo showed and it started booting up, however I was greeted by a BSOD saying „MEMORY_MANAGEMENT“ I went online and I found out it was bad memory, after doing that, when I turned it on, nothing showed, as I said the fans were running the lights were on , but there was no signal, and it also showed no HDD activity light. (This hard drive was brand new and working BTW) And after several tries this PC just wouldn’t boot. I proceeded to buy some new memory to see if that worked, nothing. Now I need some help I wan’t to get this PC running again, if possible.

TL;DR – HP doesn’t boot, fans running, lights on, no display, tried replacing RAM, was working before, need help.
I know you’re going to say that it’s an old PC and I should get a new one, but this is sort of a rescue computer if something should go wrong with our main PC, this PC will let us go online to research the problem or just buy a new computer. We also use it as a spare PC if some is occupying the other PC.

You got one of the worst to try to figure out. Do you get any beep codes from the motherboard? That can help you narrow it down. The next things is to unplug everything from the motherboard. See if that point you get beep codes. Then plug the video card back in and see what happens. See if it will tell you no hard drive. Since you have already done the ram thing, I would recommend you either test or replace the power supply. That 250W stands out as having very little overhead. An interment power supply can cause all sorts of weird symptoms. After that it becomes a crap shoot what it could be.
