Your Questions About Tournament Mvp

Lisa asks…

Who will win gold in soccer in the olympics?

Also who will win the gold in Basketball.

I think Mexico will win in soccer and USA will win gold in basketball.

But USAs basketball team played badly today they barely beat an Australia team burdened with injuries.
I didnt know Mexico didnt make it. I think Argentina will win gold. But Argentina sucks at basketball. Manu Ginobili is a flopper.
Eventhough USA played badly against Australia.

I really do think that the US dream team is unstoppable and not capable of losing.

Believe it or not I think the U.S. Could win in both sports. Basketball is obviuos as their team is stacked with young talent finally everywhere on the court. Now, I’m not sayin they’re a certain winner, as many teams can shoot from range consistently, but I think this years U.S. Team can and will put in a much better effort defensively then they have in recent past tournaments. You can see this in kobe bryant, as soon as the opposing guard crossing half-court, kobe has been right there to press him. These small things can take their toll during games and if the U.S. Doesn’t dominate an opponet early on, then they will pull away late due to defensive improvements and physical players in the paint(LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Howard, Bosh). With the Soccer team. I think that the U.S. Squad’s is as close to their actual senior national team as any other country in the olympics. There are as many stars if not more of this team than otheres. We know Freddy Adu of course, but there’s also Jozy Altidore(newly signed to 3rd place Villareal after dominating in MLS), Brian McBride(finished in spectacular form with fulham this season), Brad Guzan(newly signed to Aston Villa),Michael Parkhurst(MLS defensinve mvp), Muarice Edu(MLS rookie of the year), Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber(national team regulars). Add to that the fact that at close to half of the team is in midseason playing form in the MLS which means they are more game ready. Also i think three other have been in competiontions the senior team before such as Danny Szetela, who played for U.S. In the last Gold Cup. I believe this team could make serious noise and possibly win gold as i think they can be a much more coehisive unit with truly solid players all over the field and in gold and if you think they need a playmaker here and there, that’s the type of thing that Adu, Mcbride, and Altidore bring to the game. So those are my guesses, U.S. For gold in both basketball and soccer

But I Suspect you really want to know who won the Superbowl— (I sure do)
„“Super Bowl XIV
Chuck Noll’s Pittsburgh Steelers would repeat to win Super Bowl 14 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on January 20th, 1980 against Ray Malavasi’s LA Rams. Terry Bradshaw took home MVP for the second straight year as the Steelers won their 4th Super Bowl before any other team had won three. John Stallworth and Lynn Swan each caught touchdowns, while Franco Harris ran for two. Dave Elmendorf, Rod Perry, and Eddie Brown intercepted three Bradshaw passes, but it wasn’t enough. Lawrence McCutcheon connected with Ron Smith on a halfback pass but quarterback Vince Ferragamo couldn’t make the big throw for the Rams. Unsung hero, Larry Anderson, had 162 return yards setting up the Steeler win, 31-19.

Super Bowl XV
Tom Flores‘ Oakland Raiders beat Dick Vermeil’s Philadelphia Eagles, 27-10, in Super Bowl 15 on January 25th, 1981 at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. Ron Jaworski had 291 yards, but was intercepted by linebacker Rod Martin three times. Jim Plunkett threw three touchdowns in Super Bowl Fifteen; an 80 yard bomb to Kenny King, and two shorter scores to Cliff Branch. An Eagle defense led by John Bunting and Herman Edwards couldn’t slow Plunkett and Mark Van Eeghen (75 yards). Ted Hendricks, Matt Millen, Dave Browning, and Martin led the stout Raider defense.

Super Bowl XVI
On January 24, 1982 Super Bowl 16 was played in Pontiac, Michigan at the Pontiac Sliverdome. Bill Walsh’s San Francisco 49ers faced Forrest Gregg’s Cincinnati Bengals. MVP, Joe Montana, inched his Forty-Niners into Super Bowl Sixteen by completing a last second touchdown to Dwight Clark in the NFC Title Game, known as „The Catch“. Montana took home MVP honors, throwing one touchdown to Earl Cooper, while running for another. Ray Wersching had a Super Bowl record 4 field goals. Ken Anderson brought the Bengals roaring back with a touchdown run and pass to Dan Ross. But early turnovers by Chris Collinsworth and Anderson were too much to overcome as Eric Wright, Lynn Thomas, Ronnie Lott, and Dwight Hicks led San Francisco’s defense to victory.

Super Bowl XVII
On January 30th, 1983, Joe Gibbs‘ Washington Redskins beat Don Shula’s Miami Dolphins 27-17 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Super Bowl 17 MVP, John Riggins, rushed for a record 166 yards, and Joe Theismann threw two touchdowns, to Alvin Garrett and Charlie Brown, leading the Redskin comeback in the second half. Miami’s 17 Super Bowl Seventeen points came in the first half; a 76 yard touchdown pass from David Woodley to Jimmy Cefalo, a short field goal by Uwe Von Schamann, and a 98 yard kickoff return by Fulton Walker. Vernon Dean and Mark Murphy led the Washington defense that held Woodley and Don Strock to 4-17 passing.

Super Bowl XVIII
Joe Gibbs‘ Washington Redskins were back as Defending Champs for Super Bowl 18 in Tampa, Florida on January 30th, 1983. Super Bowl Eighteen was different for Joe, as Tom Flores‘ Los Angeles Raiders blew-out Joe Theismann (2-ints), John Riggins (64-yds) and the rest of the Redskins, 38-9, in the Super Bowl’s most lopsided contest yet. Marcus Allen literally ran away with Super Bowl MVP, compiling over 200 total yards and two touchdowns, with a record 192 rushing. Derrick Jensen blocked a punt for a touchdown and linebacker Jack Squireck returned an interception for a score to end the half. Jim Plunkett tossed a TD to Cliff Branch adding fuel to the fire.

Super Bowl XIX
On January 20th, 1985 Don Shula’s Miami Dolphins played Bill Walsh’s San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 19 at Stanford Stadium in Stanford, California. Two of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks of all time, Dan Marino and Joe Montana, led their respective teams into what promised to be an offensive explosion. But Walsh’s Nickel Defense held Marino well below season averages while the Dolphins couldn’t coral Super Bowl Nineteen MVP Joe Montana (361 yards, 4 total touchdowns), Roger Craig (3 scores), and Dwight Clark, as the Niners nailed Miami, 38-9. Manu Tuiasosopo, Ronnie Lott, and Eric C. Wright halted Mark Clayton, Mark Duper, Tony Nathan, and the Dolphins.

Super Bowl XX
In Super Bowl 20, on January 26th, 1986, Mike Ditka’s Chicago Bears destroyed Raymond Berry’s New England Patriots 46-10, in the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans. The Bear’s „46 Zone“ that helped Chicago to a 15-1 record, recorded 7 sacks, holding Steve Grogan, Tony Eason, Morgan Stanley, and the Patriots to 10 points and just 7 yards rushing. One of the most popular teams of all time, the Bears were led by Jim McMahon, Walter „Sweetness“ Payton, Mike Singletary, Super Bowl MVP Richard Dent, Willie Gault, and rookie William „Refrigerator“ Perry. Their famous „Super Bowl Shuffle“ rap song peaked at #41 on the Billboard charts. Their nearly perfect season, tagged the Bears one of the greatest teams of all time.

Super Bowl XXI

John Elway led the Broncos in rushing and passing, throwing for 304 yards. Vance Johnson led the game with 121 yards, but neither could bring home the Broncos‘ first Super Bowl. Joe Morris and Mark Bevaro helped Simms control the second half as a record 8 different players caught passes for the N.Y. Giants.

Super Bowl XXII

John Elway threw a 56 yard touchdown to Ricky Nattiel and Rich Karlis‘ field goal put the Broncos up 10-0. It was false hope for Denver as the Redskins ran off 42 unanswered points to win Super Bowl Twenty-Two. MVP Doug William’s had a record tying 4 touchdowns to Ricky Sanders (2), Clint Didier (1), and Gary Clark (1).Two records fell as Sanders had 193 yards receiving and rookie runner Timmy Smith rushed for 204 yards. Led by Barry Wilburn and Alvin Walton the Redskins held Denver scoreless for the last three quarters.

Super Bowl XXIII
On January 22nd, 1989 at Joe Robbie Stadium in Miami, Florida, Sam Wyche’s Cincinnati Bengals lost to Bill Walsh’s San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 23, 20-16. Super Bowl Twenty-Three MVP, Jerry Rice, set a Super Bowl record with 215 yards receiving and Joe Montana had a record 357 yards. But, the Bengals‘ D, led by Jason Buck, Leon White and Solomon Wilcots, made big plays when they had to, as Cincinnati found themselves up 16-13 with 3:20 remaining. Linda asks…

WHy do Brazilians and Argentinians export so many players out to europe?

why cant mexico export that many players out to europe like the brazilians and argentinians? IS there quality of players better than ours?

what makes them so special?

admin answers:

Some quick reasons….

#1:FMF Presidents and directivos want as shizz loads of money 4 a player lets say like Guillermo Ochoa or Humberto Suazo what they are really worth in the logical transfer market is raised either by double, a couple of thousand dollars, etc..

#2:They underestimate CONCACAF zone/organization so they must also underestimate the players who play in club teams from that zone.

#3-I have noticed a pattern,, the teams who are like in a Final of Copa LIbertadores or Copa Sudamericana get their top players bought, so se desmantelan like when Fluminense lost against Liga De Quito in Libertadores Thiago Neves left FLUMINENSE bcause he showed sparks of greatness during the whole tournament and kept FLUMINENSE fans‘ and teammates‘ chances of winning the cup up. You get me, whoever is like the MVP,MAN OF THE MATCH, etc in those prestigious Championship Tournaments like Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores are going 2 Europe.

#4- I hate 2 say it but Brasil has more talent than Mexico, even doe El Tri is getting there lately, that 20/11 rule and Sub-17 and Canteras are helping us out. Argentina has better skilled players than us in a individual level, 2 bad the players suck as a team.

#5-Mexican players are expensive 2 buy and Europe coach, president, etc wants 2 toss a mediocre bid 4 a talented player, why hasn’t juan carlos cacho in his best moment went 2 any German team, because gueros are cheap in the football world that is why a lot of us players go 2 europe, they get paid in cents, mexican talent get paid in euro benjamins.

Richard asks…

Who do you think will Win Rookie of the Year Next Year?

I think James Harden will, he has the most polished game in the league. He’s a great scorer (OJ Mayo type player).

Blake Griffin is a monster, but I think he will struggle his rookie year against the big boys.

admin answers:

We cant just assume they will be top picks according to mock drafts etc. You never know griffin may not be what teams need right now they may need a PG or teams may not need harden they may need a C for longer term value (like my mavs) anyways..

If it where between the 2 then even then we cannot say harden may end up on a team where he gets more PT where griffin gets less . We cant really say its way to early to be guessing the NCAA tournament didnt even start yet thats like us guessing who will be mvp ROY in 2010 we just cant do that.

Maria asks…

Wasn’t Shania Twain supposed to be at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics?

I know I saw a commercial saying she was going to be there, and I didn’t see her at all. I watched the entire thing, the first part, and then the stuff they showed later on (after the Marriage Ref). Am I just crazy, or did anyone else see that she was supposed to be there?

admin answers:

You weren’t the only one. Bob Costas said it during the NBC coverage, but I never saw her either. Guess they decided she was too much country, a la Calgary, eh?

Oh, and to the person who doesn’t understand Crosby not getting the MVP, his stats were average. Sure, he scored the game winning goal, but the MVP is the TOURNAMENT MVP. Miller had the biggest impact of all players on the tournament as a whole. Quit your whining.
