What is a factory unlocked phone?
Hello, i have a really crap phone and i saw this cool phone on amazon and it said its „factory unlocked“ i know that factory unlocked means that it doesnt have a provider/service. But i have At&t so can i just put my sim card in the phone and all things good? Or do i have to buy a no contract phone by At&t. Also does the factory unlocked phone have to say At&t? ———— Locked phones are most prevalent. Also called Contract phones… they are locked—meaning they only work with the sim card made by that Carrier… ATT phones with ATT sim cards, Tmobile phones with TMobile sim cards.. Etc etc etc

The factory, also called the manufacturer (Samsung, LG, Motorola, HTC, ZTE, Hauewi, SONY, etc), sells the phone itself, rather than giving it to a wireless carrier for them to brand and sell….. Factory ubnlocked phones are just like regular unlocked phones… works on any sim card….. These are also the most prized, popular, and pricy….

If I were to go to a T-Mobile store, and buy, say a Samsung Galaxy Note 3, for FULL price, could I use it with another carrier like AT&T, or Straight Talk?

1) Wireless Carrier stores, called CORS (company owned retail stores), do not sell phones at full price to non-customers. Either you are already a customer of theirs…. Or…. Plan on being a customer of theirs in the next 10-15 minutes. Lmao
2) Branded wireless carrier phones sold at Full Price (499-699) on national retailer sotres and sites (walmart, amazon, radioshack, best buy) are locked to that carrier. You must call the carrier to obtain the unlock code.
3) Non-branded wireless carrier phones are sold ONLY by the OEM and are naturally unlocked, may/may not have additional hardware/software installed than basic wireless carrier versions, and are geared, mod’d more to developers and techs rather than the idiot sheeple of the general public. They are $699-$999…

I recently bought a Nokia X6 phone currently locked on 3 network (UK). How do I unlock it free to use on any network? Any list of codes available?

As far as I know free codes does not unlock your phone, so even if you would find a unlock code or whatever you’d have to spend some money.
This site is nearly perfect and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums.

I used them to unlock my cell phone. Contacted them and within 30 mins i had my unlock code and my phone was unlocked.

Patch Unlock-Mobile Phone!! *10 Points*?
I wanted to unlock my C902 over the internet by using the Da-vinci client. However, the options I have are ‚Patch Unlock‘ and ‚Unlock / New Models‘. What exactly is Patch Unlcok, and will it unlock the phone to any network? or is the the Unlock / New Models option.
Help would be much appreciated.

Sony Ericsson phones are not unlocked like other phones. The provider lock cannot be removed unless the phone is flashed with a generic cust pack. What the unlock patch does is fool the phone into skipping over the sim verification process where it will only accept sim cards from a specific service provider.
SE recently changed their firmware platform so the unlock patch is no longer applicable. Newer model phones have a different unlocking method.
For your phone, you probably need the patch unlock. I could look it up to be sure, but I’ll leave it for you to do. In use, the unlock patch is indistinguishable from any other unlocking process.

Unlock a cell phone?
I am thinking about buying a used cell phone from an AT&T network, but I am currently with a T-Mobile AFFILIATE (I wireless). So I guess my question is, if I buy this phone from AT&T, would I be able to unlock it? (TO WORK WITH A T MOBILE AFFILIATE). Like, is it the same as unlocking it for T Mobile?
And has anyone unlocked a phone before to work with a different carrier? If so, what was the outcome?

In order to get the phone unlocked you would need to either have the person who owns the phone call AT&T to request the unlock code or if that’s not possible once you have the phone you would need to call them to do this. As long as the phone meets the eligibility requirements for the unlock code they will give it to you at no cost. I have unlocked one of my older AT&T phones for use on international networks and have had no problems with it. The only problem you will run into is the lack of data services such as the browser, IM and multimedia messaging but you will be able to use text and voice service.
