Your Questions About Poker

Donald asks…

Can poker machine venues be sued for causing family discord and relationship dislocations and difficulties?

If a man’s wife has an addiction to poker machines where she cannot be reasoned with about it., and it can be foreseen that eventually the relationship will crack under the stress, can the poker machine industry be held accountable in any way ?

admin answers:

It’s not an addiction. It’s a lack of self control. The wife in question is an irresponsible gambler that chooses to squander money on these poker machines. Suing them would be like suing Ford if you crash your car. Or suing Jack Daniels for being an alcoholic.

She chooses to play, the machines exist legally, there is no need for the poker machine industry to be held accountable; it’s not their fault. Just like it’s not Pizza Hut’s fault if I eat pizza every day and get fat.

While the situation may be sad for those involved. The answer is not to try and place the blame elsewhere. The husband and wife involved need to take personal responsibility for what is going on, and not try to pretend that these machines have some magical addictive power that leaves players powerless to resist.

What are the best offers in poker bonus?

I am not much familiar with the online casino business and do not have much experience regarding the casino bonus. i have heard that not all online poker bonuses require you to enter special bonus code. So please explain the best offers in poker bonus. Thanks.

admin answers:

There are two types of bonuses offered in online poker; Deposit Bonuses and No Deposit Bonuses. Deposit Bonuses are bonuses that online poker rooms offer in exchange for making a deposit on their poker client. No deposit bonuses are risk free bonuses poker sites offer for you to try their site before you deposit.

Almost every poker site on the Internet offers a sign-up bonus for making your first deposit but not all bonuses are created equal. At Casinator http://www.casinator.com/poker-bonus-codes.php you can find a huge database of online poker sites with handpicked best bonuses on the Internet.

Good luck!

How do i start playing Texas Hold’em poker?

After watching the movie casino royale, i have grown interest in the term poker and texas hold’em poker looks even more fascinating when jammed bond plays it. So please provide me with information that will enlighten me about the rules of the game.

admin answers:

Texas holdem is played by each player being dealt two private cards, called hole cards. When betting is finished, 3 community cards are laid visible on the table, this is called the flop, another round of betting this time starting from the small blind. Then one more card is laid visible on the table called the turn, round of betting, and then the last card is laid on the table, called the river, then the last round of betting. The person with the best 5 card poker hand out of the 7 available (2 hole cards and 5 community cards) wins, or the person who bets all other players out of the pot wins.

Donna asks…

Can anyone show me proof there are consistent winners in online poker?

Poker is about 80% luck, 20% skill. Add in rake, and nobody wins long term and that includes rakeback. If you disagree with me, show me proof of winning players from websites that track it.

admin answers:

Honestly, the only people who claim that luck plays that big a part of poker, are people that don’t understand how to play profitably. Because of their own failings, they assume that it is just the game, not their inability to play it. Some of these people are even able to play for profit in real life, but come unstuck online because they don’t know how to adjust for the difference of the game.

The link I have shared with you is an independent statistical site that collects tournament information on all the major online poker sites. Right on their home page is a list of the top 25 players they track, and when you click on their names you can see the amount of money they have won. If you login (it’s free to sign up), they will also show you the amount of money they have paid to enter all the tournaments they have played, so you can also see profitability, average return per tournament and other stats.

Now you could argue that all these figures are made up and it’s just some conspiracy by the poker sites to prove people do win, but I have tracked myself, and a good friend of mine who has made tens of thousands in profit (he once won a buy in to the WSOP main event worth $10K), and the stats are completely accurate for me and my friend, so I have no reason to doubt that they are generally pretty accurate.

I’d say that most online players are losers in the long term, but this is only because they are not good players.

I’ve made money by practice online, in real casinos, in local poker tournaments, and reading lots of books. The Omega watch I wear was bought with online poker winnings (as was my Tag Heuer before that), and the deposit on my new car was paid for with poker winnings. I don’t pretend to be a master of the game, in fact I still have a lot to learn, and need to practice more often. But I know from personal experience that there is money to be made.

The reality is that few people have the discipline it takes to be successful at the game. For example, my friend who is far better than me will often play 8-10 hours a day, even though he has a full time job. He’ll bust out, and go right back into another tournament. Most people would give up, go on tilt, or lose interest.
