Jack and Rose are both fictional characters. However the ones ive listed below are true historical people who ARE featured in the films.

** Margret „Molly“ Brown – Played by Kathy Bates **
She is regarded as a heroine as she made the lifeboat she was in go back and look for survivors

** Thomas Andrews – Played by Victor Garber **
It is shown the movie that he went down with the ship he built. This happened in real life and his body was never recovered.

** Captain Edward John Smith – Played by Bernard Hill **
His body was never recovered

** Joseph Bruce Ismay – Played by Jonathan Hyde **
Some say this businessman helped woman and children on to the lifeboats before boarding one himself, others say he was on the first lifeboat ignoring the woman and children first rule just like the character in the movie. He died in 1937 aged 74

** Colonel John Jacob Astor IV – Played by Eric Braeden **
A first-class passenger whom Rose calls the richest man on the ship. In the movie Astor is last seen on the Grand Staircase dome implodes and water floods in. In reality, Astor died after being crushed by one of the ships funnels.

** Madeline Astor – Played by Charlotte Chatton **
The 18 year old wife Colonel John Jacob Astor VI survived the Titanic and remarried twice before passing away on March 27th 1940.

** First Officer William Murdoch – Played by Ewan Stewart **
During a rush for the lifeboats, Murdoch shoots Tommy Ryan as well as another passenger in a momentary panic, then commits suicide out of guilt; in reality, it is not clear how he died. When Murdoch’s nephew Scott saw the film, he objected to his uncle’s portrayal as damaging to Murdoch’s heroic reputation.

** Father Thomas Byles – Played by James Lancaster **
Just like the movie Father Byles went down with the ship. He was walking on the upper deck reciting his breviary when the Titanic struck the iceberg. As the ship was sinking, he assisted many Third-Class passengers up to the Boat Deck to the lifeboats. He reputedly twice refused a place on a lifeboat. Toward the very end, he prayed the rosary and other prayers, heard confessions and gave absolution to more than a hundred passengers who remained trapped on the stern of the ship after all of the lifeboats had been launched.

** Isidor Straus and Ida Straus – Played by Lew Plater and Elsa Raven **
In the movie you see the elderly couple lying down on their bed whilst the ship is sinking in reality the wife was offered a place on a lifeboat but refused and was heard saying to her husband „We have lived together for many years. Where you go, I go“. The last time they were seen alive they were sitting together quietly on deck chairs on the deck before a wave washed over them.

These are just a few of the real people featured in the film.

And i cant believe the story about the elderly couple!!! So sad.
