Your Questions About Poker Rules

William asks…

Poker rules. What is higher a straight or a flush.?

admin answers:

Actually, Meister is wrong. A full house also beats a flush. Here are the ranks of hands, from lowest to highest.

High card: highest card of five when there is no pattern.
Pair: two cards of the same rank, like two aces or two fours.
Two pair: two different pairs of cards, like two aces and two sixes.
Three of a kind: just like it sounds like. Three cards of the same rank, like three tens.
Straight: five cards, not of the same suit, in sequential order.
Flush: five cards of the same suit.
Full house: a three of a kind and a pair in the same five-card hand
Four of a kind: four cards the same rank.
Straight flush: five cards, in sequential order, of the same suit.
Royal flush: the five highest ranked cards (ten, jack, queen, king, ace) all of the exact same suit.

David asks…

anyone know poker rules?

in poker does a straight of 8 9 10 jack queen king beat a straight of 8 9 10 jack queen, and a pair of 3’s?
help. thanks so much

admin answers:

In poker at showdown, you make the best hand with the best 5 cards, and 5 cards only, and these cards speak for themselves. NO other cards are used.

In this case one player has straight 8,9,10,J,Q and the other player has a straight, 9, 10, J, Q, K. The straight to the King is the higher straight and wins the hand and the pot.

Good Luck!

Sandy asks…

Can someone please explain the rules of texas hold’em poker simply and shortly?

I want to know because I know the basic rules and I play it on facebook but on facebook there are 2 cards that apear by my picture and not on the table, I think they are called the comunity cards what are they for and do they count in the main hand?

admin answers:

The five community cards are known as the flop (first three cards), turn (4th card), and river (5th card).

Each player has 2 pocket cards to use to make the best 5-card hand using a combination of the community and pocket cards.

You can try to deduce what cards other players hold by watching how they bet – for example, to see if they hold a 3rd Ace, or part of a straight, etc.
