## Poker hands.?

Poker hands. Assume all C(52,5) hands equally likely. Find the probability of being dealt three of a kind (ranks a,a,a,b,c).

The probability of being dealt three of a kind
= (no. Of combination of three of a kind)/(no. Of all possible combination)

Number of combination of 5 cards drawn from a deck of 52 cards
= 52C5 = 2598960

Number of combination of three of a kind
= (combination of 3 cards of the same number) x (combination of 2 cards – combination of pair)
= (13 x 4C3) x ( 48C2 – 12 x 4C2)
= (13 x 4) x ( 1128-72)
= 54912

So, the odd is
54912 / 2598960
~ 0.02112845……
~ 1 in 47

## How many different 5 card poker hands would contain only cards of a single suit?

I know there are 2,598,960 different 5 card poker hands but I don’t know how many would only contain a single suit.

There are 4 suits, and for each suit, 13 cards. You’re choosing 5 of them, so 4(13C5) = 5148 hands.

You can also solve this by looking up the frequency of the types of hands in poker. What you want is the number of flushes plus straight flushes plus royal flushes.

## How many 5-card poker hands consist of 5 cards which are all the same suit?

How many poker hands out of a 52 card deck consist of 5 cards which are all the same suit?

There are 5,108 possible flush, or same suit, poker hands, with a 1 in 509 chance of getting one.

## How do I record poker hands onto my PC?

I play poker on-line and want to record my hands on to my computer. The site (Pacific Poker) has a history of my hands I can watch but don’t know how to record them. I have seen other people can do it as they post them on youtube.

I’m in the UK if that makes any difference, does anyone know?
