How much money should i bring to a friendly poker game?
I’m going to attend a friendly poker game with a new group of guys from church, about 5 of us. I think they all have played poker with real money before, but not with this group. The organizer mentioned that money should be brought to the game. I was kinda suprised, thinking that this would be just for fun. I’ve played poker before, but no money was involved, but i have played black jack before with money. But then again, it wouldn’t be any fun without playing for money. So, how much $ should I bring?

Take only what you can afford to lose.
I generally like to have $200 with me for a poker game, but it really depends on the stakes. Is it tournament style? If so are there rebuys, add ons, or more than one game? Is it cash, if so is it limit, no limit, what are the blinds?
The best thing to do is to ask one of your friends. Just ask them what style do they play, and what is the buy in. No one is going to think you stupid for asking this kind of question. It really should be the first thing you ask.
Remember that even if you take $100 or $200, you only have to put what you are comfortable playing out on the table.

Do the player images work for play money tables on Poker Stars?

I’ve just created an account with poker stars and had a play money game to get used to the feel of it, but my image isn’t displayed just the gold circle, does anyone know if images are displayed at all for play money games?

Yes, they do display but it takes about 3 days to show.. The people that run the site need to approve of your picture first to make sure it’s not inappropriate… I have an account with poker stars as well and it took several days for my picture to show up.. So don’t worry people will get to see your picture soon.

What casino’s in Atlantic City have the biggest and most populated poker rooms?
Just doing some curious research about the Atlantic City poker scene. Is there a site that reports which casino’s are the most trafficked for poker?

Borgata has the best poker room. There will always be an open seat because they have so many tables, but if there are no open seats, they open quickly. There are no other casinos with this size of room as well
You have to realize though that the borgata is a much younger crowd. They talk alot, its a loud room, and every one there is alive and ready. Just be prepared to play some good poker, or at least find the drunk sucker at the table.
The taj mahal has a nice room, but everytime ive been there, i’ve had to wait a long time. Plus this is where most of the pro’s will show up, they’ll play here. Also, new comers tend to come here, because it is one of the most popular casinos. It was in rounders. There is a wide range of ability here. You also just have to spot the sucker and run with his bank roll.
The tropicana and harrahs i would compare. They are both, sort of small when compared to the others. They are both very quiet, and very relaxed. If you talk when you play here, it will annoy people and that can give you the upper hand in some occasions. You will also find that it causes people to attack you in hands.
If you wanna play for a long time, id definitely say the borgata is the best.
