i think this is actually a pretty interesting argument, and like most cases with issues of the players against wsop staff, i am siding with the players although not as vehemently as i have in the past…i can understand that harrah’s allowed registration to begin some 4 months in advance for this tournament and that if someone really wanted the seat that badly they would have made sure to have gotten it, and i understand that they can’t take alternates or move to 10 handed tables because it would compromise the tournament’s integrity, but i do find it hard to believe that there is no workable solution to this problem, and additionally jeffrey pollack’s comment that they have capped wsop events before is complete garbage, those events were the heads-up tournament and the shootouts which are held to a set number of players which all players are made aware of on the schedule
i just find it hard to believe that harrah’s hates money enough to just slam the door on at least 500 players and maybe more…and besides that, they’re going to have a problem on day 2b when some 4500 people will attempt to squeeze into the amazon room
so what is everyone else’s opinion?
another thing that i forgot to point out actually, is that a lot of the players on day 1d are flying in from foreign countries on that day to register, they can’t afford to pay the extra hotel time to show up and register for an early day and then have to wait 3 days or more to play again…so people from outside the country who want to play are being unfairly penalized
i probably misworded that last statement, not that they can’t afford it, but obviously it doesn’t make a lot of sense for them to stay the extra time and pay for their hotel for more time than they have to…i suppose you can file all that under the category of „registration has been open for months, tough shit“ but i still think a compromise of some sort could have and should have been reached…bring back the awful tents from a couple years ago if they wanted that badly to play

I’m going with Harrah’s on this one.
The first 3 days were all WAY below the 2700 count, and as early as Day 1a they were saying that day 1d could be a sellout. Anyone who wanted in should have made sure to buy ahead, or to show up for Day 1b, 1c at the latest.
The real reason those players are out in the cold?
„“I’ve played day 1D for the last two years,” said Adrian Passfild … I had no expectation that they were going to reach capacity (this year).”
… Said [Trevor] McCarthy. “I’ve been here for the four days, but I’ve been trying to satellite in. I’m spending a lot of money on a hotel.”
So no, I don’t have any sympathy for the guys who missed out.

On the Add’l Details:
They can afford to fly over from Australia? They can afford the $10,000 buy-in (or multiple attempts at satelliting in?) They can afford the Vegas lifestyle for the days-n-days that they’re playing in the tourney? But they can’t afford one or two extra hotel days @ $100 a day (or less) to make sure they get in?

Im 19 years old and I told my mom i work thirdshift at some factory, but i’ve really been playing poker in illegal underground games. shes against gambling soo its gonna be hard to explain how ive been making money. If you’re a mother how would you take the news?

If you want to stay on your mother’s good side, find a job. Doesn’t mean you stop playing poker, maybe not as much a night, or not as many nights a week.
Other than earning enough money to win a WPT or WSOP event, if you stick with poker as your only income source, you’re either leaving her in the dark or breaking her heart one day when you tell her.

France is in big trouble because of the growing number of Muslims living there.
Read Mark Steyn’s book, „America Alone.“
Basically, he looks at the fact that by demographic changes alone (i.e., Muslim immigrants moving there, and having lots of kids), France will have a Muslim majority within about 30-40 years. The Muslims growing up in Europe are more radicalized and marginalized than their counterparts in the Middle East. This is the future of France, according to Steyn.
Think about that: a country that would declare Jihad and then surrender immediately!

YPM- a small company called Young Political Majors – a group hired by the GOP, allegedly deceived Californians who thought they were signing a petition. YPM denies any wrongdoing. Similar accusations have been leveled against the company elsewhere.
