Why won’t liberals in congress or California address the „leech“ problem?

Those poor people, they just need a quick fix, who are we to deny them…it’s a right to spend taxpayer money on strippers and poker, isn’t it?

I mean, those poor gullible welfare people see congressmen doing this and they just mimic what they see the guardians of the public’s trust do, right?

Who would blame them? Anyone, liberals? I’m sure this is an isolated incident, and I’m certain the system isn’t rampant with fraud and abuse, right?

Do you liberals see why conservatives complain about Govt run programs now? this is just 1 state, and probably just the tip of the ways that the Govt gets defrauded…who actually believes that this is all there is?

Reporting from Sacramento — California welfare recipients have been able to get taxpayer cash — meant to feed and clothe their children — from ATMs at strip clubs and casinos across the state, including some well-known gentlemen’s cabarets in Los Angeles…

…Nearly $4.8 million has been withdrawn from ATMs at casinos and poker rooms with welfare benefits cards from 2007 through last month, state officials said last week. The vast majority of that, $4.4 million, was withdrawn at tribal casinos.

„This is a huge amount of money when we’re slashing programs right and left,“ said Assemblywoman Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa), who added that the Schwarzenegger administration should have caught the problem years ago.

In May, Schwarzenegger proposed eliminating the CalWorks program, which provides the cash portion of welfare benefits, as part of his plan to close the state’s $19-billion budget deficit.

Advocates for the poor say that it would be unconscionable to cut any more from the state’s already shrinking social safety net, arguing that there are good reasons to preserve access to cash benefits even at gambling establishments.

„Casinos in some rural places have become like little hubs of the community,“ said Michael Herald, a lobbyist for the Western Center on Law and Poverty. „My guess is there’s a small contingent of CalWorks recipients who work at, or live near, these casinos.“

Wonder when the FBI is going to knock on Obama’s door next?

The FBI is investigating a former Illinois state senator who is a poker-playing buddy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

According to Chicago authorities, the FBI visited the offices in Joliet, Ill., of a Will County auditor to ask questions about Larry Walsh, a longtime friend of Mr. Obama’s, and his chief of staff Matt Ryan.

The two men became tight friends during their tenure in the Illinois Senate and bonded over games of poker. According to a report in Time magazine, Mr. Walsh lost to Mr. Obama once with what he thought was a winning hand, and then slammed down his cards and said: „Doggone it, Barack, if you were more liberal in your card-playing and more conservative in your politics, you and I would get along much better.“

Goldberg picks the two of clubs and has to deliver the news. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don’t make a bad situation worse. „Discreet? I’m the most discreet person you’ll ever meet. Discretion is my middle name. Leave it to me.“ Goldberg goes over to the Meyerwitz apartment and knocks on the door. Mrs. Meyerwitz opens the door and asks what he wants? Goldberg declares: „Your husband just lost $500 in a poker game and is afraid to come home.“ „Tell him to drop dead!“ says the wife. „I’ll go tell him.“ says Goldberg.

Pregnant with no benefits at work..need serious advice!!!?

Ok, this is a tricky one. I’m 7 months pregnant and I’m a poker dealer at a Casino. I’m only 4’7 so of course I’m having SERIOUS back pain. My doctor wrote a letter for me for work so I could go on light duty and it basically stated “ no reaching, bending, pulling ect.“ …So, I put this request in to my human resources department and the poker room was giving me authorized days off untill they heard back with a response from the human resources department. It has been 1 month and I finally heard back from them with bad news. They said they can’t accomodate me for light duty because basically what my doctor stated was that I cannot do my job. So basically I have to still deal and they cannot accomodate me in any way. The lady from scheduling called me today and was trying to convince me to resign so this way i could still be re-hired when they start to rehire dealers. Here’s the thing…I’m an on-call dealer. But it’s just a label that the casino gives us so we don’t recieve any benefits. All of the on-call dealers work about 5 days (not enough hours to bump up to part time) but we receive nothing. We cannot have a personal leave, if we get sick we’re screwed because doctor’s notes will not even be considered, I don’t even have a maternity leave. I have to ask the head of my department for an „accomodation“ to be off from work to take care of my baby. So it’s not even guaranteed that I will get it. So, what do I do?? I’m so confused about this situation. Can I go on state disability even if I’m on-call? I don’t know what to do! I’m about to have a dam baby and these peices of shit are being peices of shit! lol….please throw me some advice…. thanks alot everyone!
Can I recieve state disability? What if I get hurt at work..can they get in trouble because I have specific rules from my doctor? Granted, I’m still going to have to work because I can’t afford to lose my job but that’s only because they aren’t doing anything to help me out. I really want to know what my rights are and it’s difficult because I’m on-call so I’m basically nothing to them.
