Why doesn’t McDonald’s have HD commercials?
I was sitting watching some standard HD glory with my friend, we will call him John. As we sat and enjoyed the clarity and crispness of the HD picture, we both decided that we could never go back to standard definition. Needless to say, it was HD or nothin, b. We also lost a lot of respect for companies that do not produce commercials in HD. Lemme tell ya somethin son, these commercials make it seem like I’m swimming underwater and looking through goggles. For that reason, whenever a non-HD commercial comes on, me and John will scream, „Get your snorkel!“ Now, some consumers may feel that having HD commercials is not that important; however, John and I see them as essential to a company’s reputation. How can one respect a company that squeezes money and shows this garbage? We have developed many reactions to certain companies that fail to give us our HD high. A few examples… Firestone comes on with a commercial that looks like it was made in 1970: „I’m goin‘ with Michelin!“ … Hardee’s shows us a burger that looks like it has bugs on it because of the lack of definition: „Want to grab a triple steak burger from our local Steak-n-Shake?“ Now to my question, why does McDonald’s a company with so many resources try to save that quick buck by producing non-HD commercials?
Thank you Wally for your quick and concise response. That being said, my colleague and I must refute your claim that McDonald’s target market is little kids. The commercials we see do not advertise happy meals but usually involve more adult environments.

The camera, video editing, etc are still expensive and not worth the extra cost. In addition to this, most of the studios that produce commercials do not have this equipment. Now you mentioned McDonald’s, at least half of their commercials are for little kids who don’t really get turned on with HD video anyway. Z

Do you think there are a lot of dog thieves on this site?
I see tons of Q & A’s from people about how they „rescued“ a dog from an abusive life. But, if the dog isn’t being physically abused or harmed, isn’t that just theft? I’ve seen people ask questions on here about how to convince their friends to spay their dog and they were given advice about kidnapping the dog, then saying they found it in the woods after the surgery is done. That’s disturbing. I’ve seen other questions about dogs being “chained” to a tree and people suggested that it be rescued because that’s abuse. What if it’s a big shade tree and the dog has plenty of room to run around and water/food? I think these people mean well, but they have a hero complex. I’ve been told that I’m abusing my puppy and he must have a terrible life because I live in an apt in the city and he doesn’t get out all the time. First off, my dog is a maltese. They are indoor dogs and are perfectly happy sitting in air conditioning and chewing on their stuffed animals. Years ago a dog had to be physically harmed for it to be abuse, but we’ve become so liberal now with the definition of abuse. I don’t go around “rescuing” dogs that are being fed Ol’ Roy or kibbles n’ bits, which is certainly a form of abuse…but I’m not going to steal their dog over it.

Of course it’s theft no matter the ‚reason‘ someone gives.I used to have a neighbor years ago that would do this stuff to peoples animals. She constantly went around the blocks nosing into everyones yard that had animals, and taking scraps of food and/or dog food etc and giving it to whatever animals she chose. On several occasions this or that person would be combing the blocks looking for ‚FiFi‘ that disappeared out of their fence, then later that day this crazy lady would come walking by my house and stop to tell me about the dog she ‚found‘ and took to be spayed/neutered, then a day or two later the ‚lost‘ dog would appear back in the persons fence with stitches. This woman drove us nuts throwing crap over the fence to my dogs. Because I didn’t free feed them (meals twice a day) she didn’t like it, so she would bring junk and throw it in there, of course they would eat it, then of course have diarrhea for the next two days. We mostly kept our mouths shut though, because for someone to be that nuts, she could be just nuts enough to decide they would be better off dead or gone than in my possession. We moved way outta town and away from her. I still groom her dogs, and her families dogs ONCE a year when they finally get them done. They are always nasty, matted,seriously fat and full of fleas and ticks. Go figure!
People who do these things are like a tiny fanatic scale of PETA. They think that doing ‚wrong‘ is ok as long as their skewed sense of helping is fulfilled. Look at the world around us. There are much more important things for people to be hero’s over than dogs. Other innocent humans for instance. After we stop abusing each other every second of every day,,,,,then maybe move on to animals. I don’t like to see animals that aren’t cared for properly either, but I won’t abuse another human by stealing from them in order to ’stop a dog from eating ol roy‘ or some such.

Is the macbook pro really worth it?
I need a new laptop for college. I will have to take out a student loan to buy one, but I will get a part time job and pay the loan while I am in school. My 2 year old sony vaio doesn’t turn on anymore, and I’m using my sisters old laptop with a broken screen (I have to hook it up to my 32 inch LCD tv, and use it as an external monitor while sitting two inches away from the screen to type anything)
The macbook pro that I want is $2000 (with the education discount, plus I get a free ipod touch)

Ok. The macbook pro has a $1000 price difference from the HP dx18t. The specs aren’t that much different, and the HP has a blu ray drive and a 2 inch bigger screen.
My question is, is the macbook pro really worth the extra $1000? I mean I don’t really like Windows XP/Vista, they get alot of problems, but I heard Windows 7 is supposed to be better. And my friend told me ‚once you go mac, you never go back‘.
So is the macbook pro worth more money?

Well, I just got a macbook pro a couple weeks ago. I really like it because it’s set up really conveniently and I can put it on sleep mode so that I don’t have to restart it all the time. The multi-touch pad is also great, and the FEEL of the touchpad is also good. For the HP, you might want to try the touchpad at a retail store becaues I was about to buy one at Best Buy but it really annoyed me…it was kind of „sticky“…not so smooth
so pro: it’s fast and convenient
the con: not as much software is compatible with it, and they ARE ridiculously overpriced.
They are truthfully only worth the $2000 that we have to shell out only if you’re into a lot of video editing, movie making…stuff like that.
However, if you do buy a macbook pro, keep this in mind.
1) right now there’s a printer promotion. If you buy from the apple online store or an apple retail store, you get a free $100 printer (after rebate, that is)
2) if you’re going to college, you’ll also probably want microsoft office. You shouldn’t buy it from apple even if they give you a discount. You should check with your college technology store first. On my campus, microsoft office for macs is…$60? Versus the apple store, and anywhere else really, over $100.
So to actually answer your question…no, I don’t think it’s worth more money, but if you get it, I think you’ll like it.

should i get a dell xps 16 laptop for college?
I was looking at the studio 14 and the xps 16 by dell. They all come out to be near the same price 1200 range, when I add everything together to make them similar. The only thing that I like about the xps over the studio 14 is that it has the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5730 while the 14 has the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5450. The xps does weigh more and use more battery though. Plus I don’t know if 16inch is too big to carry around everywhere. Please give me some advice
Also the studio 14 only comes in 720p while the xps is 1080p. But this is for college and I don’t know if I am going to be sitting down watching movies 24/7 even though it looks and sounds nice.
