Your Questions About Poker Rules

Maria asks…

How do u play chinese poker?

I want to know rules for chinese poker. You can explain it to me or give me a website that explains it. Don’t give me the rules of the type of chinese poker where you’re supposed to have a bottom hand, a middle hand, and a top hand.

Michael asks…

Do you think the U.S. Constitution is a “living document”? Would you play poker when the rules are “living”?

By „living document“ I mean in the sense that some say it should be seen as evolving with the society that implements it.
No, they did not view it this way. There is a difference between amending the constitution and ignoring it.
reallypablo, there is a valid process of amendment. The governmental discrimination against black people (as well as slavery) were ended via that process. Again, there is a difference between amending the Constitution (or amending poker rules) and ignoring them altogether. I do not understand why some people cannot see the difference between these two concepts.
mufasa1023, I take it by „a 1790’s viewpoint“ you mean actually following what the Constitution says. How is the Poker analogy inapplicable? You CAN change the rules. It is called Amending. Once again, there is a difference between CHANGING the rules and IGNORING the rules.

admin answers:

If it can be „interpreted“ to mean the opposite of what it says, then it is useless.

That only 5 of the 9 justices saw fit to decide that the 2nd Amendment means what it says really shocked me.

How to do a class presentation about poker?

How to do a class presentation about poker?
I am going to have a presentation about texas hold em or poker and I need to teach the class the basic rules. It is a college class. Anyone got any ideas or suggestion on what to teach the class? My presentation has to be 10 mins long. Also I want the class to participate in a 5 min activity that has to do with poker like playing a game or something.
my class has about 40 people in it.

admin answers:

A good way to start off would be explaining the basic rules of poker, ie hand values, proper dealing technique, how the betting structures work. You could also, logistic permitting, have the class break up into groups and sit like they would at a poker game. I would just find a basic set of instructions on how to play and then spice it up a bit. 10 minutes on how to play texas hold ‚em should be easy to do and still keep fun.

Just make sure to bring enough decks of cards. If you have 40 people, I would think about 6 decks would be sufficient. Chips and „Buttons“ would be a nice touch as well.

Sandra asks…

How do you play naked poker?

I came home last Monday evening and found my husband completely naked in our living room with one of our daughter’s friends (she was almost naked). They looked quite shocked when I walked in, so I asked why. My hubby said they were playing naked poker together before I came in.

Anyway, I want to learn how to play too – are there some rules for this that are different to normal poker or is it just played naked?

admin answers:

Losers of each hand have to remove an article of clothing. Just like Strip Poker.

Unless you mean this question in the literal sense. If you want to play Naked Poker literally, then everybody gets naked and you play poker. But that’s no fun. It’s more fun when losers of each hand have to take something off.

ya its a college class

admin answers:

Is this a college class or a high school class?

If it’s high school, I would HIGHLY discourage this presentation. It is not appropriate for high school students. If you DO decide to go with it, be sure your teacher is OK with it. (Shame on them if they are OK with it!)

If it is with a college group or older, I’d stick with just the fundamentals of poker. Stuff like poker hand hierarchy. (Which hands beat which other hands.) Perhaps deal 8 people 5 cards each and figure out which player has the best hand. MAYBE teach them the basic structure of a 7-card stud game. (This is a bit easier to describe than Texas Hold ‚em in my opinion.)

10 minutes is not long enough to get into anything more than the basics. Make pictures of the winning hand hierarchy. That will look impressive.
