Hey guys. Well here in Canada on a local Toronto sports network we have this thing called ‚Court Cuts‘ Its pretty much a once a week highlight reel of that week in basketballs highlights… heres an example

What are the chances of getting into ivy league / MIT, Stanford with the following profile?
I want to join a ivy league university….havard, Columbia, princeton, Standford,MIT etc.. for an undergraduate program in computer science/ Civil engineering.
i am from india.I gave 12 class boards this year and expecting 90+ aggregate.
i had maths(95) , physics (90) , chemistry(85), computer science(100) , english(90) as the main subjects (listed expected marks in brackets as the results will come out in may end.
Was the student of the year, president of the student council of my school, lead actor in annual play, best basketball player , best actor, 8 international level achievements (which include going to NASA, selected among the 54 students from all over india,2 from delhi, to go to japan as a guest of the japanese government and i was the group leader and represented the group in front of japanese education ministry, selected among the top 9 fillm makers under 18 from all the world awarded by Mr. Tony Blair, etc), best film maker , once 1st and once 2nd in inter zonal basketball tournament, 4rth best in road skating and overall 6th in skating all over delhi, one of the head organizer of my school fest for last two years, and various other awards in dance, computer based events, acting, debates, website developing, concept teaching in vedic maths, 3d model making, scholar badge (secured above 90%) 3 times, quizzes and a 2-3 olympiads,.
Did community service too.. collected relief materials from all over delhi for flood victims of bihar 2 years ago, went to help mentally and phsically disabled children for a two week long program, have made several documentaries on child rights/child labour on an international level , etc…
And please help in guiding how to apply and how to get financial aid…i have heard some not all colleges offer financial aid to international students…i am preparing for SAT and TOEFL…… Thanks in advance…

Actually m not preferring to go afterwards because in IIT everything is mostly mugging up, without understanding/practical knowledge….i gave IIT entrance this expecting +ve results but have no desire to go at all…..m i right?

I’m not sure how international grades work, but you basically need to be all A’s during high school for most of the Ivies. Your grades seem like they may be too low. And you need to have a Passion. The Ivies want Experts. They want a well-rounded student body, not well-rounded students. (While you can be somewhat well rounded, they prefer to see students who have a clear Passion, that their extracurriculars, community service, internships, volunteering, are mostly concentrated on that Passion. They don’t want scattered.) I don’t really see a distinct Passion. Also, long term commitments to programs, etc are important.
You seem like a very bright and accomplished student! But 85% of applicants are qualified to attend Harvard, etc, yet only 6% – 10% (for the most prestigious colleges) are admitted. There are many kids with the same qualifications you have. So you should also think outside of the box, different colleges, so you have the best chance of being admitted and getting funding.
The colleges like international students because they are usually full pay. That is one reason why you won’t find much in the way of international student scholarships. The best thing to do is to look locally for scholarships, and on each college website, as it can vary greatly as to how generous the colleges are. Generally, for international students you must have about $60,000 in cash available (for the school you mentioned) for the first academic year, with bank provided proof. This is a government requirement for the visa. At some colleges you may pay much up front before receiving the visa, at some you’ll pay a smaller portion, but they must have proof that cash is available. (Most investment accounts do not qualify, it must be liquid assets.) At some colleges if you don’t apply for financial aid with your initial application, you cannot get aid for any of the 4 undergrad years. For some colleges, it depends on where the funding is coming from, so you must check into the details for each college.

Your chances are small.
Even among top USA students, the admission rate has dropped this year to below 10%.
You would have a better chance at schools which are a tier below elite, such as Vanderbilt, Colgate, or or University of Rochester. However, be aware financial aid is often not available to International Students.
