Is it legal to hold/play in a private poker tournament in a music studio?
I live in the UK and I’ve been asked by a guy i know who owns a local music studio if i want to play in a monthly £5 buy in, no limit hold’em tournament consisting of 8 players (maybe 16 if there’s two tables).
I’m just wondering whether or not this is legal to play in? Any advise would be appriciated

I have backed a friend entering a poker tournament, if he wins I get a percentage, how would the taxes work?
So if I get 10% of his winnings and he wins $40,000 I assume that taxes would be collected on his winnings, but then can he give me my portion of the winnings tax free?

I’m sure he could give you $4,000 in cash and no one would know about it. If I’m him, of course I would give you 10% of the post tax amount.

if the tournaments held inthe bars do not involve money, but once every 3 months a seat is given away to a major poker tournament (valued at $6,000), is it still legal?

Usually the free bet requires a deposit of an equal value e.g. £20 deposit for £20 free bet. Some require you to play a bet for the free bet.
Very few companies offer a free bet without deposit, but one offer is very good and completely free. Skybet offer a £10 free bet on registration. They also give you £10 free for use in the casino and a few poker tournament tokens. Go for this. Not a scam.
