Your Questions About Pass Tour

Paul asks…

Ways to earn backstage passes on Warped Tour?

I was wondering possible ways to earn a backstage pass for Warped Tour. I heard you can do a few things to help out and they’ll end up giving you one or something close to the end of the day. You can also donate blood, but I’m not old enough. If anyone has any suggestions or anything, that would be great. :]

Getting backstage passes to concerts is a lot easier than people think. I am really surprised that more people are not doing it. I have been attending concerts since I was fifteen and have gotten backstage to more than thirty-five concerts in the last 10 years.

I have met most of my favorite performers and have a collection of memories that will last me a lifetime. I have tons of pictures, music, t shirts and autographs that I obtained throughout the years. My main suggestion is getting your foot in the door. There is actually a book that I saw at the library that had quite a bit on info about the subject. The book has a website address http://www.igotbackstagepasses.com/ where you can order it.

I have read a few books on the subject but this one was the most complete and did not have lame info that I have seen in other books. This book uses some of the exact same methods that I use. Once you get your foot in the door, you can easily get backstage. People think that you have to “trick” people into letting you backstage but that is not likely. I have learned that once you know someone on the inside, you are set for life. I now know someone at every venue in my city.

So my advice is to take it step by step and read some books on the subject. It is well worth your time and effort. While you are backstage, behave yourself and stay out of people’s way and don’t argue with anyone or you will get a one way ticket from where you came from and will never be invited back. I have seen this happen a few times. So go for it, there is nothing more exciting than getting close to these bigger than life stars.

David asks…

How do I get backstage passes at Warped Tour? And how do they work?

Warped Tour is coming up in a couple of days and this is my first time going. I was just wondering, what are the best ways to get backstage passes? I’ve read that you can ask them online to volunteer or come early and do the same, donate blood, befriend some of the bands at their tents, etc..

I just want to know what are the best, most sure-fire ways to get one (or two, for my friend) at this years Warped.

Also, does a backstage pass allow you to go see any band backstage, one band that it says you can see, or you select one band? I’m assuming the first but I just want to know for sure 🙂

Thank you.

On the subject of backstage passes.

One thing backstage passes are not sold at the box office or thru an online
place like Ticketmaster. You either have to be working with the band or the
concert or know someone personally that is connected to the band or concert…

There are FOUR WAYS to get a backstage pass. From somebody that posted this information here on Yahoo Answers in the past. That is really knowledgeable
on this subject & some editing of my NYC experience on this.

1)
You must KNOW someone connected with the band or tour, more like a relative that works for the band/concert/promoters. Or, if you are lucky have a friend or a neighbor that has a relative that works for the band or the promoters directly. Or somebody you personally knows that
works for the band or promoters directly that has these connections.

2)
Be a news reporter. You would have to be one connected to your local newspaper or local TV/radio news team. Also, people that are internet news bloggers very rarely get these unless they are very well know in the news industry. I have seen a few teens that get a website
and claim they are a news blogger (that just don’t cut it).
Also, the news people can’t just show up with their news crew and be let in backstage. They have to arrange this in advance. Especially these days.

3)
A local radio station will sometime have a backstage pass or two of the concert and offer it as a promotional prize.
Either you have to be the 7th or 10th or 12th caller.
Or hope that the entry form you filled out gets picked out by the radio DJ or whoever they have in a random drawing.

4)
Sometimes a person will have one and will sell it on EBAY online auction or Craigslist and EXPECT to pay REALLY BIG DOLLARS (like hundreds or thousands) for one.
You have to be careful when buying these from these websites. Some people I have seen that show up at a concert and pay $300.00 and more on one only to learn the backstage pass they bought is nothing but a laminated fake that security can easily spot.
Some of these backstage passes have bar codes or security strips on them, depending on the agents and promoters.
On some concerts the promoters will give a backstage pass to a person. Sometime these backstage passes are not transferable. If the person is not the name on the ID code on this backstage pass they could be in some trouble.

Those are the ONLY WAY you will get a backstage pass legally.

Thomas asks…

Warped tour Vip Passes and Wristbands?

is there a difference between the vip passes and the wristbands? if there is what is it? someone please explain.

admin answers:

The Vans Warped Tour signifies summer for many rock, punk, and ska music fans. This touring music festival travels across the US and Canada for two months bringing close to a hundred bands and entertainment acts to a city near you. Every night the tour finishes off with a BBQ for all the bands and staff of Warped Tour, and those lucky few friends and fans who managed to get their hands on a VIP Pass.
Eco-Initiative – a part of the non-profit organization area of the festival that informs people about the benefits and necessities of recycling and taking care of our environment. The volunteers meet at the venue they sign up for around 9:30 am, get wristbands that grant them free admission AND backstage access, and they get taken on stage to see their favorite band. Throughout the day the volunteers will help the environment by picking up recyclables that were carelessly tossed aside, like water bottles or soda cans. As an added bonus, the person who collects the most recyclables throughout the entire tour wins a free trip – in 2007 they went to the Florida Keys!

Street Teams- many record labels and even a few bands depend on their fans to help them spread the word. Labels like Fueled By Ramen, Victory and more call upon a couple street teamers per show to come in early and post flyers and posters around the venue promoting their bands. The street teamers get free admission with a wristband, and they are usually taken on stage as well. Many get backstage access. To sign up for street teams add bands and labels on MySpace and sign up through their official websites. You should email them before the tour to see if they need any help.

Non-Profit Organizations- part of what makes Warped Tour a great, well-rounded festival is it’s ability to educate while entertaining. Part of the Warped education system is the non-profit area, full of organizations that raise money and/or awareness for causes close to their hearts. Some of these booths need volunteers to step in and manage their area’s for a few hours to give the official booth managers a break! Some organizations will usually select 1-4 volunteers a day to help out, so try getting in contact with them about a month before the tour via their official websites or MySpace. Some of the organizations that use volunteers include To Write Love On Her Arms, Girlz Garage, Keep A Breast, and Boarding 4 Breast Cancer.

Music Saves Lives- donate blood, save lives, get a special VIP wristband. (www.musicsaveslives.com )

www.warpedtour.com- recently, the official Warped Tour site has been auctioning off a pair of VIP laminates that are good for the entire tour. This could empty your pockets, so if you’ve tried to win passes or tried to volunteer and didn’t hear back, this could be a last resort.

Get There Early!- catering picks volunteers daily based on who’s at the front of the line! If you get there around 9:00 am or earlier, you have a chance of being selected to serve meals to rockstars and tour staff. The catering staff takes their volunteers on stage to see a band of their choice. A lot of other tour staff who need an extra hand last minute come out to the front of the line in the morning to seek out eager volunteers to help them out. Don’t depend on this though, it’s a luck thing.

Those are all the ways I know of to get a VIP pass to Warped Tour. And don’t be annoying about it. If you contact someone, be respectful, mature, and understanding. If they don’t get back to you, try again after a week or two have passed. Do not flood their inboxes because that does not show maturity. The people who pick VIP winners are responsible for their winners, so they won’t pick people who lack self-control or people who are ONLY interested in getting pictures and autographs and not doing work.

Good Luck!

So How Do You Get A VIP Pass To Warped Tour?!

It’s really easy!

There are tons of organizations, bands, and record labels who depend on eager fans to help them out. Some of the organizations who depend on volunteers include, but are not limited to:

Warped Reporters- a group of eager Warped Tour fans who fill out surveys beginning a couple months prior to the start of the tour. The surveys give feedback to the production company and help to make the tour the best it can be. There is an online community for Warped Reporters where people can sign up, take the surveys, and expand their social network. They can also check out exclusive interviews with Warped Tour bands (www.youtube.com/warpedrepoter) and get the latest news. Out of all the Warped Reporters who complete all the surveys, up to 500 winners are randomly chosen to win a VIP pass – 10 winners per show. The winners will get a wristband which grants them free admission, backstage access, and they will be taken ONTO the main stage to see a band of their choice. As of 2/25/08, the official site has not been open yet, but for info and alerts on Warped Reports, check out their MySpace page and add them as a friend (www.myspace.com/warpedreporters)

Paris attractions,tours,passes,must see places,shows ????

I am trying to organized my 6 day trip to Paris, and I want to make sure I’ll get the most out of it. How can I get passes for some of the must see places, attractions and shows also some tours and cruises. And how much do they cost?

admin answers:

Viator.com sells the Paris Pass that gets you into a ton of museums at additional charge. It includes subway tickets as well. I visited Paris in June and used the Paris Pass myself. You pay for it online and pick it up at the Hard Rock Cafe. Http://www.viator.com/tours/Paris/Paris-Pass/d479-2036PARIS

Viator actually offers lots of tours for Paris, though some are quite pricey.
