There are 2 scenarios that would allow Notre Dame to play in the Rose Bowl.

1. They play UCLA (its their home field) during the regular season.

2. They are ranked #1 or #2 in the BCS when the regular season ends (and conference championship games are over).

They cannot play in the Rose Bowl GAME unless they are ranked in the top 9 in the final BCS rankings before the bowl games – AND – the Big Ten – OR – the PAC-10 sends a team to the national title game.
If that happens the Rose Bowl committee gets first choice as to who they want to replace the conference team that they lost to the NCG.

Second, the NCG is rotated between the 4 BCS bowl game SITES, ex. The Fiesta Bowl doesn’t host the NCG, but the game will be at the same site as the Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl…..

The ONLY Stadium that hosts a bowl game that is named for the Bowl game is the Rose Bowl, not even the Orange Bowl hosts the Orange Bowl Game anymore.

Rose’s stock rose (no pun intended) because of the success of dominant point guards in the NBA last season. As great as he performed in the Big Dance, I’ve got to think Chris Paul and Deron Williams helped him out even more. Plus both he and Beasley were going to go 1-2 long before March. Rose and Beasley were both thought of much more highly then Thomas was coming out of college. While I think playing great in the clutch over 4-6 games against stiff college competition helps, it comes down more to whether your game translates well to the NBA.

Personally I think what you do in college, over all the games, should count more. It’s amazing how often a guy like a Carmelo Anthony gets passed on even though everyone knows he can contribute, for some spindly 7- footer who averages 2 points per game in the Southwestern Lithuanian League because he has „potential“.

It’s not going to support any video card upgrade reliably. You should plan on upgrading the power supply and video card at the same time.

NVIDIA recommends a minimum of a 350 watt power supply for a 9500GT.

Together, your RAM and video card upgrade parts probably increase the computer’s power consumption by about 45 watts. That might be all it takes, to make the crummy Bestec power supply unstable, especially considering how undersized it is relative to NVIDIA’s recommendation.

Components in power supplies gradually wear down, and become less effective at regulating voltages. Subjecting a small power supply to additional loads will often accelerate that process. Your stock 250 watt power supply was already almost two years old.

Macho Brace doubles the EVs you get after a battle. Pokerus does that as well. If a pokemon has both, it’ll get 4x the EVs it normally does from a battle. The power items can all be bought from the shop in the Battle Subway or PWT for 16 BP each. You can also find some of them on the ground, but only some of them, not all of them. For Black 2, you can these ones at these locations:

Power Band: Plasma Frigate
Power Anklet: Route 4

Power items give an additional 4 EVs on top of what you normally get. For example, lets say you battle a Litwick (which gives 1 Sp.Attack EV) and have the Power Lens equipped. You’ll get 5 Sp.Attack EVs after you defeat it. Pokerus would make that 10 EVs.

Pokerus + Power Anklet will yield 12 speed EVs, not 8. Basculin gives out 2 EVs normally, plus the 4 from Power Anklet for a total of 6. Pokerus doubles that to 12. So if you want to max out speed, you only have to kill 21 Basculin.

Beasley would be the better one because of his offensive and defensive precense. He is tough plays with heart and adjusts to the game quickly. Beasley is also better because he is also tougher and quicker for his size he is excellent at picks and is able to rebound. Rose’s offensive exicution is probably way worse averaging like 5 TO in the Summer League. Beasley also is better because he has Good Offensive exicution. Getting picks very well. He has a good shooting touch and a good defensive precense. That Rose has not getting owned by Mario Chalmers. Beasley plays with aggresivness that Rose does not have. Beasley quickly adjusted to th quickness of the NBA game and quickly adjusted after getting owned in the second game where he quickly adjusted. Rose is also injured which might make him like Greg Oden. Beasley will most likely win the ROY due to the fact that he has a better team which he would learn from. Beasley also had a better college career and Summer League. Beasley would also kill Rose in a one on one game to to size athleticism and talent. So Beasley would win. Beasley has the most talent in the draft and should have been drafted first.

My son goes to the parade to hang out with his friends, and see his princess/queen friends. Often we volunteer to help make floats, for Sierra Madre or South Pasadena. Your Gateway DX4300 has a 300W power supply, but it’s very underpowered. (It’s probably a Bestec, or FSP, with 13A or 15A on a single +12V rail.) You definitely need to upgrade the power supply before installing a higher-end video card.

As another poster mentioned, it would be a waste of time to install a GeForce 8400GS, because it would still be too slow to run games properly.

By way of comparison, a 9600GT is more than seven times faster than an 8400GS.

You only have 17 12V rail amps, so you darn well need a better power supply for the 9600GT. With rails distributed like that, you’d think that puppy came out of a Pentium II or Pentium III. Seriously, it’s fundamentally a circa-2001 design inside, I’ll bet! It’s capable of powering the 9600GT, which draws about 8 amps on the 12V before overclocking, but it’s inadequate when also powering your PC. Also, having an empty load on all but one rail can cause cheaper group regulated units like yours to act erratic; a state you’d be in running just a 9600GT off it.

If you can, just ditch both supplies and buy one new unit. It’ll be a lot more efficient, for one, and also it will provide cleaner power. I suggest this cheap Antec Earthwatts EA430. It’s pretty efficient, and being a SeaSonic build, is reliable and very stable. Thing’s actually capable of peaking a good bit above 430 watts, so you can safely draw over 350 watts day in and day out on the thing with a thirty percent margin of safety.

4 pin molex connectors are just those 4 pin plugs that have been kicking around for at least twenty years, and are used for things like drives. Most supplies seemingly have far too many, so that’s fine. I own the Antec Earthwatts 380 little brother, and I can attest that it DOES have two molexes to spare after powering one optical and two hard disks. If you need more, people sell splitters.

Alright, if you don’t want to buy another, I guess you CAN run a 9600GT off the 480 watt generic. Just be careful, because based upon the rail ratings, it’s some pretty natty fresh off the boat Taiwanese stuff that’s based on an ATX 1.3 design of 2000-2003. It’s your 9600GT, so you take the chances if that thing runs away because you’re putting all the work on the 12V with no loads elsewhere. I say you should spend the 60$ – 30 MIR check for somthing better, but that’s just what I say as someone who insists on the use of quality SMPS units.

And yes, my whole reply was predicated off system running off 350 watter and the card running off the 480 watter. Wouldn’t be surprised if your HP’s PSU has a stronger 12V rail, though. My circa-2006 HP OEM Bestec is rated for 18 amps 12V- bet yours is closer to 22.

Okay. You have a 250 watt Bestec power supply and a PCI-e 16x slot. Given how this machine has a slow single-core CPU, I don’t suggest spending much money on graphics. The HD4650 is fast enough to play the latest titles on moderate settings, and is currently at Newegg for $40. I’d suggest buying a better power supply, too, but the card draws less than 50 watts, so really, it should work even on a 250 as long as you don’t plan on marathon gaming sessions. If you decide to buy a better power supply, a cheap FSP, Silverstone Strider or Antec Basiq of 400+ watts is a great choice.

First of all you have to join B.A.S.S. Bass Anglers Sportmens Society. Second of all you should find a local club in your area that is affiliated to BASS. You can fish with the club and usually they will send the top 6 fishermen to a stae tournament, then regionals, then to a big BASS tournament.

Also, you can fish in an „open“ BASS tournament they have them all over.

The way you win is to catch the highest weight in fish. Like if you caught 5 fish for a total of 13 pounds and I caught 4 fish for a total of 15 pounds I would win. There is also almost always a side pot for the biggest fish of the tournament. The person with the heaviest fish takes that pot.

I’ve included the web site for BASS which is operated by ESPN but there are other big clubs such as FLW, ABA, FOM, and NAFC. I’ll throw some of those websites on there for ya.

I have had this argument with my friends many times, both as a golf fan, and a „supposed“ pro.

The Masters- Obviously the best to watch as a fan, since the course is so prolific, and the venue never changes (well, you know). Plus it is the first major of the season, and it seems like the one tournament most pros covet most. Somehow, Masters champion has more kick to it than the others.

US Open- The Open definitely brings out the best in the players, but what the hell is with the no-names winning this tournament (IE: Micheal Campbell, Geoff Ogilvy)? Plus, the courses are set up so freaking difficult, that it gets boring to watch guys scramble for par (and be happy to get it!).

British Open- Fun, but pretentious of Britain to claim it as „The Open Championship“. Besides, when was the last time a Brit won the thing? Paul Lawrie (’99), and he’s from Scotland. And Talk about no-names! Also, the weather is too much of a factor.

The rest of the tournaments are pretty much the same, even the PGA Championship, etc. But this year will be different with the Fed Ex Championship at the end of the season. Ten million bucks on the line? I dunno.

I’ve never visited a Karate tournament, but I’ve competed in and officiated in many taekwondo tournaments. They vary wildly in quality and in rules. So comparing them to karate would be futile, I think. Here’s a common format:

there are competitions for sparring, forms, breaking, and sometimes weapons (taekwondo is strictly weaponless, but with open tournaments, some will allow them).

Usually, competitors are grouped first by age bracket, then by skill. The younger competitors compete co-ed, but starting with younger teens and older, they also group by gender.

Many tournaments are nothing but money makers for the sponsors, which are usually individual schools that have experience setting up tournaments. These kinds are the worst kind, because favoritism as far as judging is concerned is rampant. There are usually very few competent judges, albeit they are usually well-intentioned. Open tournaments are all victim to favoritism, because a judge in one school may not like how a performer of a different school does things, even though both performers do equally well (or even the outside performer did better) .

But the better ones are sanctioned by WTF, which usually means the judges are certified. There’s a lot less favoritism, and the quality of judging is usually better.

As in any tournament, there will be people who go home and gripe about the judging – that is far and away the biggest complaint people have of tournaments. The other is the award system. With sanctioned WTF events, this is less a problem, but with local tournaments, it sort of goes like this:

A competitor can get a score of 1 – 10. But, no judge is allowed to give a score below a 6 or higher than an 8.

Kids almost always go home with a trophy, deserved or not. That’s because they divide up tournaments so that groups of 3 or 4 compete for 1st, 2nd, 3rd (and even 4th) places. If there are more kids, they have more 3-4 person competitions.

Cute kids always get benefit of doubt. Girls should always have pigtails, or if their hair is long, a long pony tail. Either should have bows.

Kids who show aggressive initiative also get a lot of points, particularly in forms and breaking: a kid can fumble every single move of a form, but if the mistakes are just the wrong techniques done correctly, it’s not unusual for that kid to get 1st place.

Conversely, kids who look down, hunch the shoulders, appear timid, who correct mistakes in their form, who freak out on a missed break, cry during sparring – they get lower placement.

Adults don’t always get extended the „everyone gets a trophy“ or „cuteness always wins“, but they will get docked for doing the same problems that kids do. Here, confidence counts more than anything. I’ve seen competitors race through their forms a mile-a-minute and do everything correctly, against a competitor who is slow, thoughtful, and deliberate (but who makes mistakes) – the one who is slow and deliberate often scores higher.

I always advise people who compete in local tournaments to compete just to have fun. If you compete to win, you could be sorely disappointed – and usually it’s because of the judging. Do it for the experience, because the more well-organized tournaments can be scary affairs: large gymnasiums, electronic scoring, huge crowds cheering for someone – that’s tough to do well your first time.

Formalities: Koreans tend not to be so rigid in formalities. Whatever you do in your dojang, do the same at the tournament. Because people are moving here and there quickly, you can probably do away with most of the bowing (except in more personal settings), just be verbally respectful. Be especially respectful to the host and to any judges and referees you meet. Be respectful to people you don’t know, you never know if that person is a local reporter and could reflect negatively on your school. And be respectful to your competitors. (ok… That’s pretty much everyone…) You can get away with high-fiving or hand-shaking your competitors, even your own instructor if that is what is offered to you.

In TKD it is customary for the competitor and his/her coach to walk over and congratulate the competing player and coach immediately after a match, this is usually done with a bow and handshake (the players can high-five or handshake). This is done regardless of who wins. The more conservative instructors/coaches will take great offense if the other coach fails to do this and leaves to do something else.

Also in TKD, the pinnacle of tournaments is usually the sparring. Forms and breaking are usually done before sparring. Sparring is usually a tiered competition, ending with quarter-, semi-, finals, and grand finals. Take the opportunity if you can to watch the competitors you may be sparring against. Learn how they spar and what your strategy should be.

In TKD tournaments, we don’t like a lot of shouting like you see in XMA. Your kihaps (kiais) need to be loud and short, and only what’s required in the forms. TKD judges get annoyed when half the form has screams everywhere.

In TKD, it is customary, before you perform your form or break, to announce to the judges your name, school, and what you’ll be doing (name of form, or breaking details); and finally to ask permission to begin. Some tournaments do this, others don’t. If unsure that’s your coach/instructor’s fault, but, do it anyway. You don’t want the judges to wonder what you’re doing.

Wushu maens different things to different people. It varies from sensible techniques to acrobatic showy impractical technique. Assuming you are referring to technique that is of a practical nature you might be able to compete in an open Karate tournament. Best to find out the rules that will be used. All Karate tournaments are not using the same set of rules. Bottom line here is if someone is using the showy impractical Wushu, they would do better not to enter a Karate tournament.

EVs are Effort Values, they’re basically invisible experience points you gain by battling that convert to stat points. 4 EVs = 1 stat point at level 100. The result is spread out over a 100 levels, so you won’t immediately notice something. The stats will be boosted significantly in the long run though.
There’s a maximum of 510 Effort Values you can gain, of which only 508 will be effective (only 508 is dividable by four, so only 508 EVs will convert to stat points). You need to manually keep track of your EVs.

I highly recommend you read a detailed guide on EV-training. Serebii’s covers all related subjects you can think of; how to EV train a Pokemon, EV-enhancing items, Pokérus, EV-training spots, Vitamins, EV-reducing berries, etc. Don’t hesitate to read it multiple times, the concept can be a bit difficult to grasp for a beginning competitive trainer.

Now, IVs are Individual Values, basically the genes of the Pokemon. A Pokemon is born with a specific value in each stat, which can range from 0 (worst) to 31 (best). To find out which IVs your Pokemon has you can use an Individual Value calculator. Feed you Pokemon lots of Rare Candies and talk to the potential guy in Battle Subway. Enter the information in a calculator like

Both aren’t ideal, the best one is in RNG Reporter, but they will give you a general idea of which IVs your Pokemon has. You need to know the exact EVs it has for it to work though!

IVs can be affected by breeding and patience. You can use the power items to make the offspring inherit specific IVs. You can also, like me, affect the IVs through RNG manipulation. As everything in the game is determined by a random number generator, and this random number generator is affected by your mac address, the time on your DS and keypresses, you can manipulate the IVs of the Pokemon you encounter in the game without hacking. It’s a very difficult process though, a lot more difficult than EVs and IVs and STAB. Not much is known about BW2 RNG either, and it’s likely you’ll need BW1 if you ever want to breed using RNG.
